Grants Picnic Ground
Grants Picnic Ground sits within the Sherbrooke Forest, the largest section of Dandenong Ranges National Park. There is a bird feeding area at Grants Picnic Ground. Visitors must purchase a token from ‘Grants on Sherbrooke’ kiosk to enable them to enter the fenced Bird Feeding area and obtain a measured amount of seed to be offered to the wild birds.
Rayner’s Orchard are a boutique fruit orchard in the Yarra Valley that grows over 350 varieties of fruit including peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots and various citrus throughout winter.
The freshest fruit is the fruit taken straight off the tree. Peaches, Nectarines, Apricots, Plums and other varieties to select from. Take a Tractor Fruit Tasting Tour through the groves of stone fruit trees, sampling the freshest fruit, and enjoying the company of one of the staff explaining about the fruit of their trees.
The Big Bouquet
The Big Bouquet is a modern flower farm and alpaca stud. Take the opportunity to look behind the scenes and learn first-hand about the growing of top quality gerberas and the breeding of alpacas. An educational display in the visitor centre will lead you through the fascinating science of gerbera growth and propagation. In the paddocks surrounding The Big Bouquet you will find a herd of friendly alpacas. In their shop you’ll find a large range of alpaca garments. A good chance to bring home some warm alpaca garments.
The Portet family boasts ten consecutive generations of winemaking that began in Bordeaux in the 18th century. Today, the Portet name is most closely associated with the Yarra Valley where father and son team Dominique and Ben Portet, respectively ninth and tenth generation winemakers, run a successful family winery. Theirs is a symbolic, entwining and generational journey through wine.
