Melbourne City – Late Afternoon
Day 1: MELBOURNE – COLAC – WARRNAMBOOL — MT GAMBIER
Depart from Melbourne, and travel up the Princes Highway to Colac.Fronting Murray Street within the heart of Colac is Memorial Square. This block of parkland has been dedicated to those who served in the First World War and features a striking stone memorial, fountain, rotunda, playground and BBQ facilities. Then move on to the West, travel along Highway to Warrnambool.
Warrnambool’s tourism benefits from the views from the Great Ocean Road, and its nearby beaches, some of which are used for surfing. In the winter months, Southern Right whales can be seen in the waters near the city at the Logan’s Beach nursery. After lunch (own expenses) move on to Mt Gambier. Commence city tour, visit Umpherston Sinkhole, and Cave Garden. Umpherston Sinkhole also known as The Sunken Garden, was once a cave formed through dissolution of the limestone. The sinkhole was created when the top of the chamber collapsed downwards. Now the topsoil down on the floor of the cave forms the perfect environment for the sunken garden. Cave Garden situated in the centre of the city this sinkhole was the original source of water supply for the early settlers. Famous for its roses, the Cave Gardens is a great place for a picnic. Its beauty and significance can be appreciated from the viewing areas. Overnight stay in Mt Gambier.
Day 2: MT GAMBIER – ROBE – KINGSTON SE – ADELAIDE
Proceed to the Blue Lake for a drive around the rim of the Blue Lake crater, stopping at the parking area near Rook Wall. Here there are several vantage points to view Leg of Mutton Lake and Blue Lake. Walk to the Historic Centenary Tower, which was opened in 1904 to commemorate the first sighting of Mount Gambier by Lt. Grant on the Lady Nelson in 1800. Being the highest point in the district, it commands magnificent views of the Crater Lakes, the city, surrounding district including a coastal outlook. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Valley Lake Crater, a walk through the Wildlife Park and Boardwalk. Then depart for Robe.
During the Victorian gold rushes, over 16,500 Chinese people landed at Robe to travel 150km-400 km overland to the goldfields like Ararat, Ballarat and Bendigo, as Victoria introduced a landing tax to Chinese immigrants. Kingston SE to see the Big Lobster. It’s 17 metres high and weighs four tonnes! You’ll find displays of beer, wine, local produce, Rock Lobster and souvenirs. Move on to Adelaide, the City has earned a well-deserved ‘green’ reputation, with a large number of environmentally-friendly initiatives and visitor experiences. Upon arrival check in to hotel in the evening.
Day 3: ADELAIDE
After breakfast, proceed to the world renowned Barossa Valley. The Barossa Valley with its Bavarian villages, baroque Italianate Chateaux and stunning vineyard scenery gives a unique mix of Europe in Australia. Thereafter, proceed to German Village in Hahndorf. It’s lovely Main Street and many historic stone buildings containing fine art, craft, souvenir shops and restaurants, where you can taste the popular German sausages and pork hock.. After lunch, travel to Victor Harbour. You could have a ride on the famous Horse Drawn tram (own expenses) to Granite Island. From the island, you can see the magnificent ocean view. This evening is free at leisure for you. You may make your own way to Festival Centre, River Torrens and Parliament House. Or just go across the road to Adelaide Casino to try your luck.
Days 4: ADELAIDE – MELBOURNE
Depart Adelaide in the morning and travel by coach to Melbourne via Bordertown and the Ararat’s Gum San Chinese Museum. Arrive back to Melbourne in the late afternoon.

As with many tours, your day will start very early at around 7am; however, the sights you explore will make it all worth it. There will be multiple stops on the way to Adelaide city, including an overnight stay at Mount Gambier. This is before venturing out to Adelaide the next day, where you will enjoy 2 nights at a luxury central city hotel.
